SSCCS exists to promote Sir Sydney Camm's Achievements

Sir Sydney Camm CBE FRAes, was one of the UK's foremost Aircraft Designers, who during his lifetime designed aircraft from pre-war combat biplanes, World War II fighters including the Hurricane, post war jet fighters; on to his vision for the successful Harrier.

The aim of the Sir Sydney Camm Appeal is to raise a £500,000 capital base to fund a Scholarship in Sir Sydney's name; awarded anually to help aspiring young Aeronautical Engineers make a start on their career.  In this Battle of Britain 70th Anniversary year, the Appeal will also fund the installation of a full size replica Hurricane in Alexandra Gardens, Windsor as a permanent Memorial in his home town.

Your Future Engineers - The Sir Sydney Camm Scholarships and Bursaries Scheme

Britain is falling behind in providing sufficient Engineers for industry.  There is a decline in the nu,ber of 18 year olds going on to study Engineering at College or University.  The Sir Sydney Camm Scholarships and Bursaries Scheme is supported by The Sir Sydney Camm Appeal and will provide encouragement and support, inspiring young people towards exciting and worthwhile careers.

The Windsor Hurricane

As a token start to the Appeal; the Society will erect a full size replica of a Hawker Hurricane at Alexandra Gardens, alongside the River Thames in Windsor.

We require support from local and national business and individuals to continue to demonstrate our gratitude to Sir Sydney Camm and the Hawker Hurricane in winning WWII's Battle of Britain in 1940.
